♦  As a recruitment guest, you will have the opportunity to attend events at each of the 14 NPC chapters. Throughout the week, by a process of mutual selection, guests will narrow their choices until they find a chapter to call home.
♦  Formal Recruitment is an opportunity to meet hundreds of other women, get acquainted with campus, and finally begin your new life as a college student. Without a doubt, you will meet women who will be your best friends during your college years and beyond. By participating in formal recruitment, you are taking the first step toward and active and enriching experience as a sorority member at Iowa.

HOW FALL FORMAL RECRUITMENT WORKS

Formal Recruitment occurs over the first two weekends of school and is conducted through means of a mutual selection process. At the end of each round, recruitment guest will priority rank in order the chapter they would most like to see again. Likewise, the chapters issue invitations back to the recruitment guests they most wish to see again. This process continues throughout the week until Preference Round. Immediately following the last preference event, preference card signing will be explained to all recruitment guests.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FALL FORMAL RECRUITMENT ROUNDS

Round One:  Meet the Chapters at Iowa!  Event Length – 20 minutes

What Happens – On this day you will visit all 14 NPC sororities. This round will take place at the chapter facilities, and will be your first opportunity to talk to individual chapter members.
What to Wear – Plan to wear something that you feel comfortable in. This is NOT the day to test out a new pair of heels – you will regret it tomorrow!

Round Two:  Welcome Back!  Event Length – 30 minutes

What Happens – This day will be your second opportunity to see the chapter facilities, and you will get a chance to talk with more of the chapter members.
What to Wear – Again, plan on wearing something that is comfortable, but a little less casual.

Round Three:  Sisterhood Day  Event Length – 45 minutes

What Happens – What each chapter does on this day varies considerably. This is a chance for the chapters to share with you what they really value about being part of their chapter. Some chapters will inform you about the philanthropic organization they support, some will show you a sisterhood video that may highlight their chapter events throughout the year, or some may offer a tour of their chapter facility.
What to Wear – This round is a step up from the previous two rounds. By today, most women are wearing dresses or a nice skirt and top.

Round Four:  Preference Night  Event Length – 60 minutes

What Happens – You will visit up to three final chapters on Preference Night. The chapters will have a ceremony or ritual that they will share with you. These often include singing, some senior speakers, and other traditional activities. This is a night that you will really understand what sisterhood means to each chapter.
What to Wear – this is a formal event, and cocktail attire is recommended. This includes something you would wear to a wedding, for example, a cocktail dress, a nice skirt and top, and dress shoes or sandals.
